INSPECTIONS

Did you Google ‘truck roadworthy Melbourne’ or ‘bus roadworthy Melbourne’? Your search ends here!

Nota Motors can arrange for your RWC at a number of accredited VicRoads testing centres. That means we know exactly what we’re looking for to find out whether your vehicle meets VicRoads requirements.

A roadworthy inspection for a truck or bus involves an exhaustive examination to ensure all key components are functioning well. Ultimately the inspection aims to determine whether the vehicle is safe to drive on Victorian roads.

  • In Victoria, a Roadworthy Certificate is required whenever a vehicle is being sold. The owner of the vehicle must provide a current Roadworthy Certificate to the buyer, unless the buyer is a spouse or motor vehicle trader.
  • A vehicle can be sold without a Roadworthy Certificate if it is not registered.
  • If a used vehicle is being re-registered, a current Roadworthy Certificate is required.
  • In some cases a Roadworthy Certificate is needed to clear a vehicle defect notice.

WHAT IS INSPECTED?

The RWC tester will thoroughly and meticulously check your vehicle to ensure all key components are functioning safely. They will identify whether the components are worn or deteriorated, and determine whether the vehicle is safe for use. It will usually cover the major safety related elements of the vehicle, including:

  • Wheels and tyres
  • Steering, suspension and braking systems
  • Seats and seat belts
  • Lamps and reflectors
  • Windscreen and windows including front windscreen wipers and washers
  • The structure of the vehicle itself
  • Other safety related items on the body, chassis or engine

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CERTIFICATE DOES NOT MEAN

  • The vehicle is in peak condition
  • Non-safety related parts like air conditioning, electric windows etc are functioning properly
  • Items checked during an inspection will continue to function after the inspection

The roadworthiness test is not a check of a vehicle’s mechanical reliability or general condition. If your vehicle needs a comprehensive check, you should consider a Pre-Purchase Inspection.
